Our Year Together
As we reflect on 2025, we are filled with gratitude for each of you: our partners, donors, advocates, and champions of Main Street. This annual report captures our shared progress as both an organization and a movement, and what’s possible when people come together to care for, invest in, and strengthen the places they love.
Together, we’re not just preserving Main Streets — we’re reimagining what’s possible for communities across America.

We Are Built to Last
Communities That Last
The Main Street Approach was created over 45 years ago as a tool to help communities withstand economic hardship, adapt to change, and thrive in uncertainty. Every single Main Street in our network uses the Main Street Approach to address challenges like high retail vacancy, job loss, population changes, lack of affordable housing, and crumbling historic structures.
With these tools in place, Main Streets have, time and again, demonstrated a remarkable ability to beat the odds and overcome shocks and uncertainty. Even as more challenges arise, we’re ready, because Main Streets are built to last.
Small Businesses That Last
Supporting entrepreneurs, small businesses, and small-scale development builds community wealth and creates meaningful investment in communities. Through Main Street America’s Small Business Support work, we are equipping both small business owners and economic development leaders with tools, resources, and opportunities to build stronger and more resilient local economies.
From storytelling and grantmaking to virtual trainings and peer sharing, we are committed to supporting the small businesses that make Main Streets thrive.
Leaders That Last
Main Streets are made possible by a network of hardworking local, statewide, and regional leaders who bring our mission to life. These passionate leaders are the key to the Main Street movement’s success — they’re our super-power.
That’s why a key part of our work is ensuring Main Street America practitioners have the training, tools, and resources they need to support their communities.
We Spur Local Economies
Each year, Main Street programs rally their communities and generate meaningful economic impact. Last year, the Main Street network achieved:
in local reinvesment
net new jobs
net new businesses
Financials
Main Street America’s consolidated operating revenue totaled $17.717 million July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. As shown in the charts below, Main Street America spent only 12 percent on general and administrative expenses.
Our Partners and Supporters
We are grateful for the generous individuals, foundations, and corporations whose support in FY25 helped reenergize and strengthen Main Streets.
